Seco announced the availability of the first engineering samples of its SOM-SMARC-Dragonwing-IQ8, becoming the first company worldwide to make an industrial SMARC system-on-module based on Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ8 Series from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., available for OEM evaluation.

Following positive results from its initial engineering builds, Seco is now making a limited first batch of samples available to selected customers and engineering teams, enabling them to start evaluating the platform for their next generation of intelligent industrial products.

Bringing Dragonwing IQ8 Series to industrial applications

Powered by the Dragonwing IQ-8275 processor, the SOM-SMARC-Dragonwing-IQ8 is designed to delivers peak performance of 40 TOPS of AI acceleration through the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU in a compact, industrial-grade and ultra-efficient SMARC architecture.

Designed for demanding Edge AI applications, the module combines high-performance, power-efficient AI processing with industrial connectivity, including Gigabit and 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, PCIe Gen4, camera interfaces and CAN bus support. It provides a scalable foundation for next-generation Physical AI deployments across a wide range of industrial and mission-critical applications, including robotics, drones, intelligent machines, industrial computer vision, handheld devices, autonomous platforms, and unmanned systems.

Developed within SECO's collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies and Arduino, the module also supports a streamlined transition from prototyping with Arduino VENTUNO™ Q to industrial product development through the Works with Arduino ecosystem. SECO complements the hardware with carrier-board design expertise, software integration and Clea OS support for secure device management and long-term software maintenance.

“Being first to market with an industrial SMARC module based on Dragonwing IQ8 Series is an important milestone for Seco," says Lorenzo Veltroni, Chief Product and Marketing Officer. "Our engineering results have been very encouraging, and we are now ready to put this technology into our customers' hands. This is about moving beyond announcements and enabling OEMs to start building and validating real Edge AI and Physical AI applications on an industrial platform.”

Seco will present its SOM-SMARC-Dragonwing-IQ8 module and other Edge AI technologies at electronica 2026, held from 10 to 13 November in Munich, Germany. Visitors can meet the Seco team directly at Edge Lab LIVE!, Hall C5, Booth 100/42.
