Developers testing high-frequency components need signal sources that match the frequency range of the device under test. For multi-antenna systems, several signals with defined phase relationships may be needed. Siglent’s new SSG6089A and SSG6M80A series address these two different requirements.

The SSG6089A covers frequencies from 100 kHz to 67 GHz, extending the SSG6000A series beyond its previous upper limit of 40 GHz, according to Siglent. The generator supports AM, FM and PM, as well as frequency and amplitude sweeps. Pulse modulation is available as an option. An optional high-power configuration provides output levels of up to +30 dBm in selected frequency ranges.

For multi-channel testing, the SSG6M80A series is available with two or four RF channels. Depending on the model, the frequency range extends to 13.6 GHz or 20 GHz. Users can set frequency, amplitude, phase and time delay independently for each channel. Siglent says the phase-coherent architecture supports defined phase relationships between channels within one instrument and across synchronised instruments.

The series has a frequency-setting resolution of 0.001 Hz and a phase-setting resolution of 0.1°. Its typical phase noise is specified as -135 dBc/Hz at a 1 GHz carrier frequency and 10 kHz offset. An integrated OCXO reference supports frequency stability. Pulse generation and pulse-sequence functionality are optional.

Both product families offer USB and LAN interfaces for remote control and automated test-system integration. GPIB is available as an option. (heh)
